Admin problems

  • Unknown's avatar

I ignored my site for almost a year. I finally went in yesterday and wrote a blog post. As I was getting ready to post, I noticed that I’m not the main admin anymore. There’s some random name with an email address that I don’t know.

I tried to delete them as a user. Technically, I am still listed as admin, but I am not able to delete this other ‘admin’. What can I do to take back my site and get rid of whatever hacker dipped into my site?

I don’t have a site linked to this WordPress.com account

  • Hi there,

    What’s the website URL?

    Cheers,
    Eric

  • Hi there,

    Are you speaking of weddedmommybliss.com?

That site is connected to WordPress.com via the Jetpack plugin, but it’s not hosted with us, and we have no control at all over the user accounts on that site.

Please contact support at your hosting provider directly for help with this.

You can also ask for advice from the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/, but your hosting provider is the only people with the ability to help you gain access to or remove user accounts on the site – the WordPress.org community can only provide advice, as the people who make the software your site is using, but they have no more control over your site than we have.
