admin prohibited from viewing pages of private blog whilst editing

I am working on the blog megeterra dot org – I changed the setting from Public/indexed to Private whilst I make changes to the site today. When I want to view page all I get is the Private Blog log-in page. I am logged in, I have admin rights, I am trying to edit the thing – and I am not permitted to view?! I entered my wordpress ID to this login page and it simply re-loads the login page (doesn’t even accept my log in and put me through!!). I get this no matter how I try to view page – from My Sites dashboard page clicking “view site”, from the page list (edit / quick edit / view minimenu under page name ) or by clicking on either “view page” or “Preview Changes” from the full edit page. ?????!!!!! Please, how can I view this page so I know what it looks like? I’m the admin and working actively in the dashboard.

Please take a look at our support page about Preview Problems and Third Party Cookies. If third-party cookies are disabled in your browser, you won’t be able to preview or view the blog correctly. (Those cookies keep you logged in to your account while viewing a site with a custom domain name like yours.)

I think – I hope! – that was it – I have enabled the 3rd party cookies for now and I can see the pages again. Thank you. I have been under a major techno-black-cloud the past month with a melted motherboard, building works on the wifi antenna in my neighbourhood interrupting service, and my service provider planting “security” software in my browser with no warning or permission which is apparently impossible to remove, even by un-installing Firefox and re-installing. I was very worried that last was interfering with WP. Not being able to see my own site was putting me over the edge. Thanks again.

I had the exact same problem even though I had Firefox set to accept third party cookies. I had to change Firefox to preferences, privacy, history, use custom settings, accept cookies all the time from all dot wordpress URLs. Is this because of a Mozilla or WP update? I’ve set my blog to private before and I’ve never been locked out like this.
