Administrative blog comments appear to have lost functionality

  Comment notifications, for the blog owner, appear to have changed. They no longer include a link to the specific comment. Is there a way to re-enable this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  To clarify, are these for comments that are held in moderation? If so, then they do not include a link to the comment itself, as it is not “published” on your site until you approve it.

  If that is not the case, can you take a screenshot of the email? It would help to see it, as we send out several different email notifications.

  Just add your screenshot to your Media Library (Media>Add New) and let me know it is there so I can take a look.

  Thanks for replying.

  No, these are separate from the moderation messages, although the new ones looked very similar.

  This problem may actually already be solved. This morning the old format for the comment notices came back. (I’m fine if they’re back to stay.)

  However, just in case, I put the screen shots in my library. Their names start with “Old Comment” and “New Comment”.

  Please let me know if this isn’t clear.

  Great. Well the screenshots were a big help, and it does appear that the comment you got the notification for did not get moderated, but was published to the site directly. Where does the button take you to when you click it? Can you paste the link in here?

  The “View Comment” link in that shot of the New message format is:
  http://selfawarepatterns.com/2014/01/29/artificial-intelligence-what-you-really-need-to-know-forbes/
  As you can see, a link to the post itself, not to the specific comment.

  With the old format returning, this feels like a code change someone at WordPress.com deployed, then pulled back. If they redeploy it, I hope they fix the link.

  Hi,
  Well, the new format notifications have returned, and again the ‘View Comment’ links to the post, not to the specific comment. On small threads, this isn’t much of an issue, but as soon as the comment count gets more than a half dozen or so, with commenters replying to each other, it starts to require a substantial amount of effort to find a particular comment in the thread.

  If possible, I would love to just get the old format back until they fix this bug.

  Well, wait long enough and every problem eventually goes away. The new emails now link correctly to the specific comment. So, I think we’re good now.
