Administrator change problem.
-
The original administrator on my site has removed herself and named me as the new administrator. However, WP has not removed her from the actual site and she no longer has access to it. My domain is about to expire and I have no way to renew it! Please help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Suzanneishee!
Great to see someone from NJ as well!
I apologize but I’m a bit confused of the situation and wish to get a better understanding of it.
Did she first have you become the new administrator and then remove herself or remove herself WHILE giving you administrator privileges?
If you were given administrator access, you should have the same amount of privileges as her. This would mean you could remove her user yourself. Are you currently an administrator on the site or do you have no access at all?

Thanks so much for your speedy response, fellow New Jerseyan! In answer to your question. Yes, she made me the administrator and then removed herself. Yes, I was given administrator access, however, my domain is due to expire and I am not being allowed to pay it. The error message says, “only the administrator has permission to do this.” The former administrator no longer has access to the site even though she is still listed. (We are both listed as administrators). When I try to remove her as a user, I get the same error message as above: (“only the administrator has permission to do this.”)

OK–and truly in the world of random–I’m a professor in the Theatre Arts and Technology department at NJIT!!!

Anything for a fellow Jersey friend! On your second response… I’m actually a recent graduate of NJIT. I took a theater class once as well!
About your response: Has she attempted to log back in with her account? It’s possible she has access.
There are a few possible reasons for what’s occurring.
1. The administrator permissions are still processing. When did she give you administrator privileges?
2. There’s a bug or issue that will need to be escalated.Seeing as I can’t look for myself and I don’t have a place to (that’s for the Happiness Engineers), I’ll still do my best and hopefully one of them will drop by in here.

Yes. I saw that you are an NJIT grad. Do you remember who was your theatre professor?
In response to your questions. The administrator changed months ago and I’ve had administrator privileges all of these months. However, we encountered a similar experience at domain renewal time last year, but somehow I was able to work around. Not so this year. Definitely a bug or issue that needs to be escalated. Thank you!

Thanks for flagging us, @eallas :)
@suzanneishee the person who owns the upgrade is actually still on the site, so she should be able to renew the domain. But if she intended to transfer it to you instead, we can help with that. We do need permission from her, though.
I’ll try reaching out to her over email.

Thanks so much. I’ve alerted her to look out for your email. I appreciate your help very much. Please note that the domain registry did successfully change to me when she first processed this months ago.

I didn’t notice I flagged you @supernovia by just saying the words “Happiness Engineer” but glad to have unknowingly summoned the overlords! Thanks for the help!
@suzanneishee I hope the situation is fully resolved soon so this issue doesn’t occur for a third time next year! Great to see someone even from my college on here! :D

@supernovia Never heard of this “modlook” tag until now! Thanks for the new information! I’m still learning, I definitely appreciate it! :D
As for suzanne’s issue, glad to hear it’s all sorted! Best of luck to everyone!
