Administrator has left and password is forgotten.
-
I have been asked to take over admin of a wordpress site but the original admin has left the organisation and forgotten the password. I currently have only low level access.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Are you still in contact with the original administrator? If so, could you please ask them to follow the Account Recovery process: https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/
Once they’ve reclaimed access to their account, they would be able to transfer ownership of the WordPress.com blog to you: https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
Let us know if you have any further questions. :)

Hi rodashwell,
Just to confirm — is mtloftyhistoricalsociety.wordpress.com the site you have been asked to be an administrator for?
-
Yes that is the correct one. I have access to post items on the front page but that seems to be all I can do. The person who set up the site has left and doesn’t remember the password, but I may be able to contact them to help.
Cheers

Hi Rod,
The owner of that site will need to regain access of their account first, then they can transfer ownership of the site to you.
I can tell you the username for the account is lizhistory, but they’ll need to follow the process outlined in our account recovery process linked to above in order to regain access to that account.
