Adobe Flex (swf) Pages
-
Hi folks,
I am developing an adobe flex application, which can be hosted elsewhere, but I would like to use http://www.wordpress.com as a front end to that app. Is this possilbe? That is, on the front page I would have a link and when clicked it would open up an html that does nothing beyond embedding (iframe?) a flex/swf that is hosted elsewhere.
Thanks and regards,

iframes cannot be used on wordpress.com.
You may be interested in a wordpress.org install on your own host.

I am not an html guru, so there is basically 2 question.
1) Can swf files be embeded into a page, without iframes (my original question)?
2) An if so then is it something that can be done in http://www.wordpress.com – for example, being able to put a swf into a totally blank page, within any theme/template?
*) I am looking at http://www.worpress.COM mostly because it is perfect for me (mostly because of no sys admin needs) providing that I can somehow “integrate” my adobe flex (swf) app into it.

My swf files can be on another servers, outside of wordpress.com … The only special thing that I am looking for is a menu entry that when clicked, it will open a wordpress.com resident blank html page that does nothing else but load my SWF from that other (non wordpress.com) server.

You could use the Gigya code to embed the SWF file into a post or page.

I looked to see if you still need the
<object> mark up </ object>
is still used to embed .SWF format into a HTML and it is still true.http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/415/tn_4150.html
We cannot use Object, iframe, or video tag no matter where you store your file.

I see how that flash calendar is embedded into a post with that gigya command.
So, the only question left is whether any of the themes/templates support the notion of having a totally blank page that is without any menus nor bars and that would on it have just the gigya embed. -
Maybe not quite so easy ;)
Are those [gigya src= … embeds only for “gigya” controls and widgets.
In my case, I have a youtube application, with its own menus and all – and it needs to take up the whole browser space.

With the gigya shortcode, the flash would appear within a normal theme page in the content area so the header, menu, sidebar and footer would all still be there. There is no way to change that although in some themes you can specify pages to display with no sidebar.
Whether the gigya shortcode will work in this particular situation I don’t know. Panos is the Gigya Ninja so perhaps he can look into if he sees this thread.
