Ads
-
Hello,
I cannot seem to find any way that anyone has posted to truly get rid of the ads on my blog site. I would even spend the $99 to upgrade, but even in one of the answers from someone about the upgrade, and how to get rid of them, the word ‘computer’ is highlighted with an ad. I’m a teacher, and the ads on my site are disturbing!!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If ads are occurring elsewhere then it sounds more like you have some adware installed on your computer and the ads only appearing for you. The No-Ads upgrade is available separately and will remove the ads that WordPress.com shows to help keep all the main features of the service free.
I would recommend visiting the same pages with javascript and any add-ons disabled, in multiple different browsers, or from a different computer entirely and see if any of those solve the problem. If so you should try to run an anti-virus scan to get rid of the adware.

Sorry but that’s not longer the case for new blogs https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/domain-mapping-upgrade-8?replies=31#post-2068837

@511students
To off-set the costs of providing free hosting to millions of bloggers, WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. If the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts then provided you see this small About These Ads link what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising. http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/Any other ads appearing to you are not placed by WordPress.com. You have an issue on your browser or computer. They are being placed there by software on your own computer, unfortunately. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.
These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads:
