is there a way to get rid of these ads without having to upgrade. thats a lot of money. says ads are to pay the bills. seems like ads are a ploy to get people to upgrade. thats a good reason to stop using wordpresss
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The answer is no. You either purchase the No-Ads upgrade or you don’t.
As your username account was registered January 18, 2012 (2 years) that means you do NOT have to purchase a Premium upgrade bundle. You can purchase the No- Ads Upgrade as an individual upgrade.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and navigate to > Store > My Upgrades
Payment method details are here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

ok I purchased $30 deal. hasnt taken off ads yet?
also I run two blogs on this. will it count for both? or do I have to purchase two?? -
The upgrade applies to a single blog only and is for a single year only. Post the URL of the blog you purchased it for here. I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

Also, clear your browser cache and cookies. You might be looking at a cached version of the site. If you do that and STILL see ads on the blog you bought the upgrade for, then your browser is infected with malware and it’s nothing to do with WP.com at all.
The ads WP.com puts on your blog are to pay for your hosting. If you want ad-free hosting a typical host will charge you $120 a year for it.

I do not see any ads at http://jesusfortheunchurched.com/
If you do still see ads there, please make a screenshot and upload it via Media -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard so we can take a look.
Here’s how to make a screenshot:
Please note that it’s possible for ads to appear in your browser that were *not* placed there by WordPress.com. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.
These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads:

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions.

so are you saying I didnt need to purchase this upgrade? how do I know if they came from wordpress? now that I think about it. I bet its from the outside
-
I would like to gt my money back. how would I do that? and then I can try to get rid of ads
-
If the ads you see are accompanied by this small About These Ads link what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising. http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/

You may be approaching this backwards.
1. First determine if the ads are being placed by WordPress.com.
2. If they are not, then use these posts that macmanx linked to to get rid of them:
http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/09/14/bloggers-beware-of-adware/
http://blog.wikimedia.org/2012/05/14/ads-on-wikipedia-your-computer-infected-malware/3. Then apply for a refund.
Refunds are time limited. WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/#refunds
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.See here:
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades
http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/Dashboard > Store > Billing History
http://en.support.wordpress.com/Billing-History/Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there.

It sounds like between the time you posted and the time the staffer posted, you bought the upgrade. That’s why they didn’t see ads.
-
Correct, I was confirming that I did not see any ads on the blog with the No Ads upgrade.
mellerd, are you still seeing ads at http://jesusfortheunchurched.com/ after purchasing the upgrade?
