I’m wondering which package I need to buy, to have ads on my site
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
See first please: Types of Blogs http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
Blogger initiated third party advertising is not allowed at WordPress.COM Please read: Monetize Your Site https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/ also note affiliate linking in that support doc.
The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains that have enough traffic to qualify for acceptance into the plan.

re: purchasing WordPress.COM upgrades
WordPress.com provides free blogs and hosts them free of charge. There are no bandwidth charges. All WordPress.com blogs come with 3000 megabytes (~3 GBs) of space for storing uploaded files and images. Free features are listed here https://en.wordpress.com/features/
We have 4 different plans: free, personal, premium and business. All hosting is free regardless of which plan you choose. You can view all wordpress.com plan features here https://wordpress.com/pricing/ Add a plan for each of your sites here: http://store.wordpress.com/plans/.
Details:
There are no trial upgrades, no monthly payment plans and no bulk deal upgrades. We are billed annually and we must pay for all upgrades in full at the time of purchase after selecting a plan.
Each upgrade bundle applies to a single blog only and is for a single year only when it is due to be renewed. (The only exceptions are one time upgrades for premium themes and guided transfers.)
Also note that purchase orders are not accepted.
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/ The domain or mapping of any existing domain URL is included in the pricing for a personal upgrade, a premium and a business upgrade. The WordPress.COM upgrade for mapping a domain must be renewed annually.
Premium upgrades do not include any premium themes which are all individually priced one time upgrades. The Business upgrade includes access to all premium themes but also note that there is no e-commerce capability under any plan here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/small-business-website-1?replies=2#post-2804631.
Before you upgrade
Make sure you read the comparison very closely do you know exactly what the restrictions and limitations on WordPress.COM blogging are: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/Also read Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading
WordPress.com does not provide an email service for blogs on their sub domains or on custom domains. Please see these support docs
https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-email/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-forwarding/How domain mapping works
What domain mapping does is providing a seamless redirect to the very same content under the new domain URL when a person clicks the old URL .wordpress.com to the original content. It can take up to 72 hours for domain propagation to take place throughout the internet but it doesn’t usually take that long. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/How to upgrade
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, select a plan and purchase upgrades at > Dashboard> Store > My Upgrades
https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/Your only options for payment are found here Payment Methods http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/
refunds and cancelling upgrades
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

What about the WordPress promotion at the bottom of the screen. I see it says “Remove WordPress.com Ads” will the WordPress logo or the thing that says “Blog at WordPress.com” still be there if I buy the Personal plan?

Please read: Customize Your Site’s Footer Credit

OOps! I forgot to post this sentence above.
Sites on any plan other than the Business plan are required to keep the footer credit intact.

One more question (lol sorry). I want to make a website where other people (e.g. my friends) are able to like use my website and post articles or stories on it, without being able to edit it. I just saw there is a tab called People and I have a team, but what exactly does adding a user do?
-
There is an Admin Edit link on posts and pages that only you as Admin and any Editors you have created can see when you are logged in. It’s for your convenience and your visitors cannot see it. You cannot remove it as it’s coded into the theme templates and we cannot edit templates or themes.
The only people who can edit your site are those you provide that ability to. See here https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ and here please https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-notifications/
If you log out, clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then visit your site without logging in that links will not appear to you.
Additional information:
Note that there will be auto-filled information in a contact form or a comment box but your information is visible to you when you are logged in and have not cleared your browser cache and cookies. No one else can see it.When someone makes a comment on your blog, unless they have cleared their cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies, WordPress.com will recognize them and complete the details for them. No one else will be able to view those details in comment boxes or in contact forms. The next person who comments will see blank fields. Commenters will not see each others details.

You cannot password protect a whole site hosted by wordpress.COM. You can only password protect posts and pages in the site. That can be done only on a wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting.
You cannot issue username accounts and passwords on any site hosted by wordpress.COM. That can be done only on a wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting. See: Moving to self hosted WordPress http://move.wordpress.com
re: adding users to a wordpress.COM site
Read: Administrator https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administratorWhat I post below applies only to sites hosted by wordpress.COM.
You can have either a public or a private WordPress.COM hosted blog and there is no limitation on the total number of contributors to any blog. If you’d like to invite others to publish posts or help approve comments on your blog, you can invite them to be a Contributor, Editor, or Author. Contributors cannot upload images. If you want users to receive updates each time you publish new content you can invite them to be a follower/viewer.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the site, to change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings
Then see:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#adding-users-to-your-site
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#adding-viewers-to-a-private-siteUsername accounts are required but registering blogs under them is not required. The invitees will have to register a WordPress.COM username account which requires an email address only, but they do not need to register a blog. That requirement is because the software has to be able to differentiate between hackers and official users and allow access only to those with username accounts and official roles on the blog.
If the person being invited to contribute to your blog does not already have one, he or she will have to register a WordPress.COM username account. He or she does not need to register a blog. There is a just a username please option. The invitees who lack username accounts select the “username only” option here: https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1
NOTE that as you have an account you would have to log out and clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies to witness the process as the invitees without accounts would experience it.
Upon receipt of the invitation, the invitee will need to click the “Accept Invitation” button in the invitation email. If the invitee is logged into their WordPress.com username account, he or she will be taken directly to your blog. If not, he or she will be taken to the log-in screen, where he or she can either log in, or can register a new WordPress.COM user account.
The invitees need to be logged into their WordPress.com account prior to clicking the “Accept Invitation” link.
Note that invitees who do create a new WordPress.com account at that point will still need to return to the invitation email and click the “Accept Invitation” button after doing so.
See here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/ and here http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#changing-user-rolesNote:
The number 10 is the number of outstanding invitations you can have at any point in time. That limitation is a spammer prevention measure. Wait until the invitees have registered and send out 10 more. -
Wow. Thanks so much for being the best person on earth! Literally, you are amazing!!! WordPress.com has the best support!!!!

Hey. I bought the Personal plan, but I’m having some trouble… I got a .com domain with the plan, but for some reason the domain is copying what my WordPress blog. Please help!!!
-
Also, (totally irrelevant) can I somehow make a pinned post at the top of my website, that only Authors can see?
-
And when I see what plan I bought, it says it’s for my WordPress blog.
All I’m trying to do here is have my blog totally separate from my website, and have the plan I bought applied to the domain I bought.
(I feel like I’m bothering you too much ._.)

Hello –

Hey. I bought the Personal plan, but I’m having some trouble… I got a .com domain with the plan, but for some reason the domain is copying what my WordPress blog. Please help!!!
thetinyarchive.com is connected to your free .wordpress.com site, thisisbeingedited.wordpress.com. The .wordpress.com site automatically redirects to the custom domain in the browser. While you and I can see the free site address on your account, the visitors are only going to see the custom one that you have paid for.
If you want thisisbeingedited.wordpress.com and thetinyarchive.com to be two different sites, you’ll need to add a new .wordpress.com site to your account and then we can help you move the mapping. To do that click on My Sites > Switch Site > Add new WordPress site.
Also, (totally irrelevant) can I somehow make a pinned post at the top of my website, that only Authors can see?
Please read over the following support guide.
