  I’m just wondering… Mum was reading my blog and told me that there was a Group-On banner or something on my blog with a picture and everything in the comments page, but when I checked I couldn’t find it, but I found Ads by Google, there were like 4 or 5 I think. But I haven’t let anyone put ads on my blog, and I though that like you could decide for yourself to have commercials or not, and if you choose to, you’ll have the benefit of getting paid. But I have ads there that I am not getting paid for and I didn’t like give them permission. I’m just wondering if something’s happened, or if there’s been a mistake, or if everyone has Ads by Google there, or Group-On commercials?

  WordPress.com puts ads on our blogs and keeps the money; that’s how they pay for the servers and staff! But you can opt out of this via the Ad Free upgrade. If I were making more money I’d buy that for all of my blogs.

  Also note that those readers using Firefox browsers with AdBlock Plus (42.8% of those surfing the internet) will not see the ads on your blog at all.

  And provided yours is a high traffic blog (generally 25,000 pageviews/month or more) and appropriate content, then you can apply to have it included in the AdControl Program and split the income from the ads 50% – 50% with wordpress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

  Oohhh, but I thought they were advertising for themselves being all like “we don’t put ads on your blog!”, but ok. It’s fair enough anyway.
  But like now I chekced again because I checked another persons blog, and that person had no ads, so I figured I’d double check if it was onl the posts with comments, and not the ones without, but now suddelny i have no more ads.
  I find this all very odd and weird. Although those two words mean the same. So I have to pay in order to never have them, but for free I can have them there /sometiems/ ? sigh, ok. I’ll live with it. They do need money. It’s only fair.

  If you’r signed in, you will never see the ads. They’re only displayed to people who aren’t signed in or regular visitors. People who come via searches will see them, for instance.
