Ads on a .org site

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
We have a .org site which I thought was free of ad material. One of our viewers wrote to tell me that they had an ad on their computer that they felt was inappropriate. Our blog URL is: http://lbpsblib.org/ but I notice below that it is listed as lbpsblib.wordpress.com.

If you could please send me some clarification, that would be helpful.

    Thanks,
    Kathy

  • To support the service (and keep free features free), we sometimes run advertisements, and the agreement for this has been in our terms of service since 2006.

We try hard to only run them in limited places. If you would like to completely eliminate ads from appearing on your blog, we offer the No-Ads Upgrade: http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/ad-free/

Since we are paying already for the .org name, I thought we would not have ads appear. So we need to purchase the No Ads in order to eliminate ads on top our yearly fee.

  • The domain name you registered only pays for the registration of the domain name itself. Only the ads and No Ads upgrade pay for the service costs, like hosting, hardware, bandwidth, personnel, etc.
