Ads on a site I've paid for?

I paid WordPress to have my website. Why is there some box that shows up saying an ad might appear in this box? I paid for it so I don’t have to have ads on my site.

Hi!
There are may different WordPress.com upgrades that you can buy, and some – but not all – will remove ads from your blog. Are you sure the upgrade you bought offered that?
Visit the WordPress.com Store to see what is available. You can also check your current upgrades via the ‘Account & Billing’ dropdown just above and to the right of the Banner/Slider on the Store main page.

Thanks iamdiogo, I took a look, it’s $30 per year extra. Kinda aggravating that I paid for my website and still have to PAY MORE to not have ads, but I’ll see if I can fit it in my budget…

Every upgrade here applies ONLY to exactly what it says. If you don’t have the No Ads upgrade, then you have ads. It doesn’t matter what other upgrades you’ve got.
