Ads on my posts?

    I’m going to feel pretty dumb if these have always been there, but I’ve had my blog for a while now (anthonydavidjacques.com) and I’m always logged in.

    Just a moment ago I was logged out, must have lapsed, and I noticed at the bottom of one of my posts was a video ad. Have these always been here?

    I paid for my own domain name. Do I get anything out of these ads?

    Please don’t laugh, but I’d love it if someone could give me the rundown.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Yes, they have always been there. They’re not usually visible if you’re signed in, is all. It’s covered in the ToS you accept when you sign up.

    This is about the third most-asked question in the forum if you do a search.

    Every upgrade applies only specifically to what it says. The only way to stop ads on your posts is to buy the No Ads upgrade or move off WordPress.com to a host that doesn’t put them on your blog.

    @anthonydavidjacques
    As raincoaster has said the only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

    WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all.

    If you feel an ad is inappropriate please take a screenshot of it and send it to Staff by emailing [email protected] or upload it into your Media Library and contact Staff and let them know it’s there for them to view.

    I paid for my own domain name. Do I get anything out of these ads?

    No. You got what you paid for ie. a domain and domain mapping upgrade and nothing more or less than what you paid for.
