ADS ON MY SITE

  Since I have not yet upgraded my site, I’d like to know why they are ads on my site? I’m still on the fence about ads until I know how much I’d be getting paid and if I can approve the ads and how they are placed. Someone has a video on my site. I am not being paid for that. I find that the ads are very distracting and covers the area where people can make comments. Please explain.

  If you have a free plan then WordPress.com displays ads on your site to help towards the costs of your site and to keep your free site free for you to use.

  No, that’s not the answer because I’ve had my free site for years and never had the ads that suddenly appear there, but thank you for trying to explain.

  There have been ads on free sites for years. Remember that you only see them when you visit your site when you’re logged out of your WordPress.com account.
