  How come there are ads on my site? And since there are, how come I’ve never been compensated for them?
  I didn’t put them there can you tell me what happened? It’s been done on both my sites.

  To eliminate ads on your website, You can upgrade to WordPress.com Personal plan or you can either stay on the Free and choose to purchase the No Ads Add-on from Tools → Marketing.
