ADs on Posts
-
Hi,
All of my posts are gettings ads which is so annoying.. On the extras page under “no-ads” for $30 which is a rip off.. it says you only get ocassionally ads.. i get them all the time.. any suggestions besides paying for the ridiculous $30 a year for no ads? It’s wordpress, it shouldn’t cost this much to keep a simple blog.
Thanks,
MariaThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well compared to the $ 10- to $ 25- a month for basic hosting the $ 30- a year is not too bad I think.
The ads are one of the ways that WordPress.COM pays the bills (along with the domain mapping you have).
The no ads upgrade is your only option on the ads. Some people have put a disclaimer on their site about the ads.

You would only need to spend $10-$25 per month on hosting a single blog if it had considerably higher traffic than the average wordpress.com site. I spent a couple of years blogging on a dollar-a-month host; it wasn’t perfect but it met my needs at the time.
So if you have a bunch of upgrades you could almost certainly host cheaper elsewhere, but you would not have the level of support you get on wordpress.com and many people are willing to pay extra just for that.

Add the fact that you are not the sys. admim. and someone else takes care of the software upgrades, all you need to do is write.

And the SEO bonus.
I don’t like paying to remove ads, but it’s a deal compared to other options.

@mariaonpoint just to point out the infrequency of ads, I just now visited several posts on your site and didn’t encounter any ads. I’m not using an ad blocker. Ads usually show up only under certain circumstances, like someone clicking through from a search engine or external link. Users logged into WordPress.com won’t usually see ads on your site.
You say you get them all the time. What browser? Is there a specific post you can point to that has ads all the time?
