Ads on site?

I am new to WordPress and blogging.
I see there is an upgrade I can purchase to prevent ads from being shown on my site.
But i haven’t seen ads on my site.
Am I missing something here? If I get more traffic will WordPress put ads on my site?

WordPress will never put ads on to your own personal blog.

Yes slimmer unless you have the no ads upgrade visitors that are not logged in will see ads when they visit

I’m sorry.
I’ve been with WordPress for about 5 years, and I’ve never seen an ad before, so I thought that WordPress didn’t have ads. I’m sorry. -

You have spammed two threads nopw with nonsense answers. Please fopcus on blogging and allow us experienced Volunteers to aprovide accurate answers to the questions that are posted so bloggers are not mislead. -

auxclass provided the correct answer. WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.There is only one advertising program called WordAds at WordPress.com. @timethief I apologized for my mistakes. Now, I will continue helping bloggers, but with more caution. You know more than I do on WordPress, and you may be an experienced volunteer, but that does not mean that you can tell me not answer questions anymore.

Just saying … please do provide accurate answers to questions. They aren’t hard to find as the forum searchbox is full of threads containing accurate answers and you can use it prior to posting into threads.

Bad answers are worse than no answers – people take bad advice and get their blog suspended or spend hours trying to make something work that will not work here – they then come back to the forum very upset and ranting and don’t understand why they were told to do something that could not be done – sadly happens all the time
