ads popping up on my blog that I paid for a domain name on
-
I recently created a new blog and I understand why ads are popping up on that one–but why are they popping up on my blog that I paid for a domain name on? I’ve never seen that before, and I was under the impression that buying a domain is a way around having those ads anyway.
Please advise.
Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To support the service (and keep free features free), we sometimes run advertisements, and the agreement for this has been in our terms of service since 2006.
The domain only pays for the domain itself. The service costs, like hosting, hardware, bandwidth, personnel, etc. are only covered by the ads or the No-Ads upgrade.
We try hard to only run them in limited places. If you would like to completely eliminate ads from appearing on your blog, we offer the No-Ads Upgrade: http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/ad-free/

I’m not entirely sure we’re talking about the same kind of ads (where you typed “hosting” I see “hostinghosting” with an ad attached to it (so we’re not talking about just the annoyance of an ad–this deal is screwing up the look of the blog wording.
All I know for certain right now is that this stuff starting popping up today–and yet I’m only seeing it on the machine where I wrote another blog over the weekend. So perhaps I’ve got some kind of malware going on that I somehow got tagged with when I was working on the site?
What kind of ads are you referring to?
-
We only run a single video (or image) ad below the blog post.
The ads you’re referring to were *not* placed there by WordPress.com. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.
These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads:

Okay, thanks. I figured something was up when I saw that they weren’t showing on my other computer–so it’s just a coincidence that all this started happening since I started that other blog. Anyway, I’ll look into getting that resolved–and thanks for the links!
I do have one other thing I’m struggling with right now–but I’m not sure if you would prefer that I post it as a separate question. But basically I don’t understand why I copy and paste a particular font from my blog into Word (so I can format some text for a new post)–but when I paste that exact same formatted text per the same font–it displays as another font when I preview it. It’s maddening because I’m having to retype in my new post in order to get the font to match.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Word is a text processor whereas WordPress uses HTML, they’re two different formatting languages and they often don’t get along. :)
To do different fonts in your post, follow this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/styling-individual-posts-and-pages/

Thanks again for all your help. I ended up calling Dell to run some scans on my machine and we got rid of that stuff that was causing some issues with those embedded ads. So it was just a coincidence that I started to see this happening around the same time at the recent blog activity.
And yeah, I was able to get the formatting issue resolved by going into the HTML. I don’t recall having that same issue with Word before, but it’s been so long since I made any updates on my original blog–so I don’t know at this point. In any case, everything is resolved now.
Thanks again for your time and input!!
Rick
