Ads (WordAds) stopped showing after switching themes

    Hi,

Ads have been showing up on my site just fine for the last few years, but a day or so ago I changed to a new theme. Ever since, ads are no longer showing (after I manually checked) and no revenue was accrued yesterday. The ads stats page is showing zero displayed ads.

What’s up with that? I tried to switch back to my old theme, but it is no longer available to use.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Hi there,

It’s not possible to switch back to your previous theme since it’s been retired. But also your new theme can definitely show ads, as many as you want and anywhere you please.

To do that you can edit your site templates (under Appearance>Edit Site) and place the Ad Block anywhere you’d like your ads to appear:

    WP
Blocks (The Full List) » Ad Block

Use the Ad block to insert an ad unit anywhere within the content of any post or page, and also in widget areas. Your site must be enrolled in WordAds to use the Ad block. Add the Ad BlockBlock ToolbarAd FormatAlignmentBlock Settings Add the Ad Block To add the Ad block, click on the + Block Inserter icon and search for “Ad”. Click it to add the block to the post or page. 💡

I’m not sure where you had your ads displayed previously but one place that they are commonly added is in your site header (which by default displays on all pages of your site) and we offered a webinar recently to show how you can edit your header to add new blocks. You can catch the replay here:

Other good places to include the Ad Block is on your Single Posts page, your Front Page, and in any sidebars you’ve created.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
