Advertising is, except for a couple very narrow exceptions, not allowed on wordpress.COM. For the exceptions, see the last sentence under “Affiliate marketing blogs” in the bottom set of bullet points in the “types of blogs” link below.

Psh Raincoaster, that’s only 16 times my hourly wage! You should put your prices up, stop devaluing your time ;)

I know a very, very senior development guy, and every time I lay eyes on him he tells me to triple my rate. Maybe you should think about doing that. Better to be a premium service than the Walmart of tech support.

Average fees for social media consultants are public and googleable. By the way, community managers are the highest-paid staffers, making six figures a year. Don’t sell yourself short. I do plenty here for free, but if someone wants a hand-holding, “this one time I was at band camp solution,” it’s $200 an hour.

And I get it, too.

Higher rates also separate the wheat from the chaff. I would much rather do fewer projects with clients that have a clue.

My day job is nothing to do with my CSS and web design shenanigans I’m afraid. I will get a pay rise in less than a week though and then your rate will only be 14 and a bit times my hourly wage. I’m catching you up so you’d better watch out!

He also has a steady paycheck, something I do not have really. I have some steady income from some sites I manage, but on the design side of things it is feast or famine. Some months I don’t have time to sleep. Other months it is like a long continuous vacation with nothing to do.
