Adsense nonsense — we should be able to PAy out of this
-
I’m evaluating WordPress for a couple of clients looking to set up blogs. In 10 minutes on your site I’m ready to pick some other blog site. 1. No phone number. 2. Support is closed. (as in… we can’t accept and email and get back to you… we need to be ‘open’ to that) Okay Okay I get it… you just want people to use the forums. Fine. I go to the forums and find that WHAT you can’t upgrade and get rid of Adsense ads. What professional blog would allow ads to appear on it. I can’t believe you dont have that upgrade available yet. So…. this isn’t looking good. (I did think you had attractive templates… but… oh well….)

Are you talking about hosting wordpress blogs on your own web hosts or here with wordpress.com? This forum is only for hosted blogs for wordpress.com and there is another forum at http://wordpress.org/support/ for all other hosts that can run wordpress on them. If you setup wordpress on another host, you can pretty much do anything you want as long as it is not illegal. Here on wordpress.com though, it is more restricted as it is running WordPress MU and not normal wordpress.

It’s a FREE blog. Why on earth *should* you be able to make money from it? WP.com don’t owe you anything. They offer their service and you can take it or leave it. Go somewhere else if you don’t want the ads to appear. Or, you know, pay to host your own blog and then you can do what you want.

You really owe it to your clients to do more than ten minutes of research, don’t you think?

Advertisements, on WP dot com: placed Solely by WP Management, as income revenue to pay for, yup, hosting free blogs. Random ads appear randomly, on random blogs.
IF you had done Actual research: you would have found, among others, a looong thread, started by me, long ago, about entire issue, venting about inappropriate ads appearing on a (still) heavily-read post about church child molestation… replies, and more. Did you not see the sticky threads –at the top of the Forum, nor the “SEARCH” window –nor Google’s “SEARCH” window? The topic: so frequently posted, so old, so answered, the only surprise is you received replies; volunteers of the Forums know a newbie is posting that and don’t reply, usually.
