I know that it’s not allowed for now in WordPress, but I think that could be an excelent optionally feature, with this option WordPress could have a better ranking than existing.
I hope we can have that great feature soon.
Thanks WordPress™. -
@xpresat-you do know that WordPress.COM already runs Adsense on WordPress.COM blogs, yes?
-
-
Not likely. And if you are interested in making money online, as someone who makes a LIVING from online advertizing, I have to say Adsense is a crappy option. You’re far better off with custom ads on an independent WP install.
-
Well of course not.. I think “living from online advertising” is not an option to live, but at least you earn money for your time blogging, writing, creating or sharing things to others ;)

I love WordPress, but am a bit tired of other people benefiting financially from my own work. My blog is syndicated by lots of services, who are running adsense, or other things and generating income. I would really like the option of being able to run some advertising of my own choosing to help finance my own costs in being an educational blogger. I don’t have the time or interest to set up wordpress.mu as I love the security of wordpress. I’m not a bigname person who can get a VIP blog. But I am just an ordinary, decent teacher who can see the potential in having an option that we can buy as an upgrade to run our own advertising by choice..rather than the upgrade option to block wordpress advertising. Could we not have a win/win situation established for us all? If I could earn a tiny tiny bit of money from my blog each month it must might pay the cost of my internet access or something.
Well you asked for feedback, so I thought I would just send this along to think about. Thanks for the great blogging platform by the way. It’s robust, it’s secure, its great!
-
@heyjude-If you offer value-added information to your readers, then why not put up a PayPal donate button instead? Earnings from Google Ads is highly overrated, especially if you’re not a “bigname person” and pulling in hundreds of hits per day.
-
I’m confused. If it’s prohibited to use AdSense, what’s this all about?
-
That blog is not hosted at WordPress.com. So he can run whatever ads he wants. Indeed, you can run whatever ads you want on a WordPress blog, *if* you are at a host that allows it. WordPress.com is a host that doesn’t allow it.

I know that wordpress doesn’t allow adsense or any similar programs. I have to say this is the one thing that makes me want to go back to blogger. In general, I love wordpress… but this might make me leave.
