adult content meaning and classification retraction?
-
Hi, we had flagged our erotic poetry journal blog as having adult content. However, searching for other similar blogs, we saw other blogs showed up with more explicit content, while ours didn’t show up (tested via friend’s regular content WP blog). Is there a ban on search results and WP readers for blogs with adult content? And can someone perhaps review the limited content we have to see if it were really adult content considering we saw? We feel we might have unfairly reported ourselves and are being penalized for it. Thanks.

You can read our mature content policy here.
https://wordpress.com/support/mature-content/Our reader and search results need to be safe for a general audience. If your site is intended for mature audiences only, as a matter of consent for our readers as well as our terms of service, please keep it marked as such.
If you’re seeing other adult content, I’d recommend reporting it. Our staff will just flag it as mature, too.

Hi, thanks for your answer. I don’t think your criteria for mature subject matter is all that well defined, and certainly not well enforced, especially on the language aspect. We see F words everywhere in our searches. Is that offensive language for example? But on the optional side of things, what if we cleaned up our blog, how do we remove the mature content designation? Does that require staff to review and unflag it? Thanks.

Hi there,
We aren’t able to help with this in the forums, but I’ve sent an email to your account email address. Please check your email and reply there.
