Advanced DNS settings: Name Servers

After I purchased my domain name through Yahoo, I found out that Yahoo can not host a domain unless they are the primary and secondary name servers. This conflicts with wordpress’need to have “NS1.WORDPRESS.COM” listed as the name server. So I changed my primary and secondary name servers back to Yahoo’s default name servers and then added “NS1.WORDPRESS.COM” and
“NS2.WORDPRESS.COM” in the two “additional” name server fields. I’ve waited 5 days (I read that it takes 24-72 hours to for the domain to settle) and wordpress still does not recognize the domain.

I’d really appreciate any feedback you all might be able to offer on this.

you’re in trouble, dude. The primary DNS is the only one that matters. The secondary and others are only used if the primary is down (which is very rare). If you want your wordpress blog to work, you need to make ns1.wordpress.com your primary. But if you want your Yahoo mail to work, your Yahoo mail name server needs to be the primary. The problem here is the archaic way that WordPress is doing this. If WordPress is going to force you to use their DNS, then they need to let you manage the DNS.
