Advanced domain renewal

  • Unknown's avatar

My domain is going to expire in March 2014, but I want to renew it now. I have learned that the renewal in advance can improve SEO ranking, so I want to do this for five consecutive months (1 renewal each month) so that my expiry date is 5 years ahead.

The problem is I can’t find the renew button in the “My Upgrades” window.

Can you help me do this? Thank you.

    Hi there,

SEO is not based on how far in advance you renew a domain, but on the content of your site, how often it’s updated, and how relevant it is to keyword searches of your audience. In fact, WordPress.com handles SEO optimization for you.

We offer normal optimizations like your sitemap, which you can view here:

We also have a Global Tagging (Topics) system that search engines love and we ping out to all the major engines every time you update your blog.

If it will give you peace of mind, I can manually bill you now for a single additional year’s renewal and once that’s paid, update the renewal date in the registry.

Yes, please bill me. Can you do this every month for the next 5 months? Let’s make it every end of the month.

One more thing, why not make the system easier? Why not place a “Renew Domain” button where users can renew their domains in advance?

    Hi again,

It looks like your site is hosted elsewhere now, so I am investigating your options for multi-year renewal. I appreciate your patience and should have an answer for you within the day.

    Thank you. very much.

Maybe WP should have a multi-year renewal button. I believe that there are also others who want to renew anytime. I’m doing this in Godaddy.

Maybe you can suggest this to the bosses. :-)

    Hi again,

After checking with my colleagues, I have confirmed that at this time we do not support multiple year domain renewals. So as I offered before, we can do a single one year extension on your domain, and when that comes up for expiration, you can renew at that time. Perhaps by that time we will have the option to do multiple year renewals.

I have sent you a payment request for the domain renewal.
