Advantage to Mapping Sub-domain?

    I’m relatively new to WordPress and have an existing domain, ideasnmore.net. I am considering mapping a sub-domain from my site to my WP blog. Once that is done, my blog’s name would, I think, be “blog.ideasnmore.net” rather than “ideasnmoreblog.com.” Am I missing something here in terms of the advantages of doing that? I’m not sure it’s worth it (I’m not contesting the price, just the effort).
