Advantages to hosted WP over free?

Okay, I’ve been looking over the FAQ and did some searches, but haven’t been able to answer this question clearly (for myself.)

Our company is going to use WordPress, but we’re unsure what the advantages are to the hosted (by WP) version over the free version. The features and themes offered in the free version are fine for us, and from what I’ve read, bandwidth is not a limiting feature.

If I can “upgrade” my free version to include more memory, what would there be any other advantages to going with the hosted WP instead of the free?

    Thanks in advance.

I believe Andy’s post which describes the differences in services may be a helpful thread to consult prior to making your decision

    (1) Bloggers who prefer to have control over their blog templates choose to have wordpress.org blogs. These are the 3 options wordpress offers with regard to personalizing blog themes. Note that the two most limited options are here at wordpress.com

    (2) Bloggers who wish to have commercial blogs with advertising on them choose to have wordpress.org blogs because we are not allowed to have advertising on out blogs here at wordpress.com (We are allowed only one affiliate link in our sidebars here).
