  There is someone I know who would like to advertise a particular company (making beds!) on my blog. I think I read somewhere once that that isn’t allowed on WordPress. Can anyone confirm that? If it is permitted, how does one go about inserting an advert?

  You’re right. Only under specific conditions can you run ads on a WordPress.com site.

  If you want to run a specific sponsor’s ad, you’ll probably need to migrate over to a self-hosted WordPress.org website.
