Advertising

I have been told that the advertising posted by WordPress breaks up the formatting of the site. Can I please ask to insert the adverts in a more thoughtful manner? Thank you.

  • Hi there,

Of what site are you speaking? And can you give a bit more details on what problem exactly the ads are causing?

On free sites we show ads in the sidebar, at the bottom of every post and page, and in some cases at the top of the site, and between paragraphs of content inside posts.

If you don’t want these ads to appear on your site, you can remove them by upgrading to any of our paid plans.

    Ads on WordPress.com

Hi Kokkieh, thank you for getting back to me.

I was told the add was on our cleaning page towards the bottom after the heading ‘because bricks and mortar…’ (www.wmconcierge.wordpress.com/services/cleaning/)

The text that follows is aligned to the image. The add replaced the text and the text was pushed down after the image. I am sure it is a wordpress ad. Thank you for fixing it. Regards, Annalisa

  • I’m not seeing an ad in that position.

Would you please provide a screenshot of it using https://snipboard.io/ ?

Hello MacManx, advertising by WordPress is floating so I would not expect to see them in the same position. If it happens again I will try to send a screenshot with my message. In the meantime, I would appreciate if more care is taken. Thank youi very much. Best Annalisa

  • We do not display floating ads on WordPress.com sites. We only display ads in the positions I mentioned in my reply above. Any ad placed by us will also include a “Report this ad” link.

If you’re seeing a floating ad or a pop-up ad, or an ad that’s not showing a link you can use to report inappropriate ads, that’s not coming from us, but is most likely being inserted by an add-on in your browser.

But next time you see it please do take a screen shot and share it with us so we can confirm this. Please try to take a screen shot of the entire browser window with the ad visible on your site, and also a close-up screen shot of only the ad itself. Also right-click on the add and select “Copy link location”. Then tell us that link the ad is pointing to as well.
