Advertising and the NO-ADS Upgrade

  First, the NO-ADS upgrade is cheep and eliminates all the trash ads that no one likes. Second, some form of paid advertising and sponsorships should be allowed. To compensate WordPress.com for all their fine work, we should ALL be willing to pay something for the right. A small fee collected each year from everyone could be very reasonable and, in the aggregate, profitable for WordPress.com. Alternately, the NO-ADS upgrade could, itself, qualify those of us who would like to carry some form of advertising on our sites.

  The ad control program here might be the first step toward allowing user generated advertising here and perhaps might be a trial balloon to see how things go on a small scale. (First bullet point near the top here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/ .)
