Advertising and upgrade

  Hi, I recently upgraded the site (thanks to those who offered help) only to find after 4-5 years of having the website we now have advertising on it. I do understand the reason behind advertising but just wondering why it has happened now?

  After upcoming discussion with the committee for this community group we will probably upgrade to the personal paid plan. With this I am assuming we can keep the existing wordpress.com name? After spending $100’s on printing to advertise our club we cannot afford to have the domain name change. Or if we have to, is there a way to redirect to the ‘old’ domain name?

  Hi there, free sites on our servers have always had advertisements, as it helps us cover our costs. You’re welcome to add a plan as you’d like. If you add a custom domain, hurstbridgegardenclub.wordpress.com will automatically redirect to that new address for the duration of your plan here at WordPress.com. You’re welcome to register the domain elsewhere and map it here, or register it here (just note registration fees are only free the first year of your plan.) Or, if you don’t want a custom domain at all, that’s alright too.
