Advertising for Money

Hi there,
You can’t have any other form of advertising on a free hosted WordPress.com blog.
The alternatives you’ve got are the following:- Be featured into the WordAds program that includes high traffic blogs that qualify for the program;
- Get a VIP WordPress.com account;
- Manage your own hosted WordPress installation with WordPress.ORG, which gives you much liberty in advertising. Here’s the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
Hope all is clear. If you have any further questions on this matter, please feel free to ask here. Cheers!

hi,
I would like to know more about the ads showing on my blog.
I pay for the blog so doesn’t it mean that the advertisers need to pay me?

No. To off-set the costs of providing free hosting to millions of bloggers, WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. If the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts then provided you see this small About These Ads link what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising. http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/
Any other ads appearing to you are not placed by WordPress.com. If you see any other ads then you could have an issue on your browser or computer. Unfortunately, they can be being placed there by software on your own computer or your visitors’. Such ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or adware found in some games and shopping sites and toolbars that may have been installed in a browser.
If the ads you see do not have the About These Ads link note that these sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads:

You can use http://snag.gy/ or http://cloudup.com to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide for screenshots http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

No blogger initiated advertising is allowed on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/NOTE: A self-hosted WordPress site might be right for you. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct eCommerce and edit the database. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If that is your preference, this guide will explain how to move your WordPress.com site to another hosting platform: Moving to a Self-Hosted WordPress Site

http://en.wordpress.com/apply-for-wordads/Advertising outside of WordAds, which is only for blogs on their own domains and with enough traffic for advertisers to choose to place their ads on it, at WordPress.com is not allowed.

Hello there!
Moving to a self-hosted site powered by WordPress.ORG will give you more freedom over advertising on your website.
I’d advise you to have a look at the option of moving to the self-hosted option if you’re really keen on advertising on your website.
Happy to help if you have any further questions. Cheers!
