Advertising on my blog
-
Hi, I am starting a new blog and I would ultimately like to be able to sell advertising space once my blog reaches a certain level of traffic. Is it easy to do? Do I just have to wait until I have a certain level of traffic and then contact WordPress about building in banner space on the blog?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

AdSense, Yahoo, Chitika, TextLinkAds, and other third-party advertising is not allowed here at WordPress.com.

Is there a way for advertisers to submit their ads to me and I post them to my blog? Is there the capability of this at all? my blog is megsbeerbanter.com and I am very new so I am not sure how and if I can accept ads from potential advertisers and post myself. Is this possible?
Thanks!
Meaghan

No, that is simply not an option at WordPress.com unless you’re in the VIP program which costs $2300 per month if I recall correctly. If you want ads, you need to get paid hosting and export your content to that new WordPress.ORG blog.

Rain, FYI, the Enterprise package allows ad campaigns, but at $500/mo, it’s still far above the budget of most people.

If you wish to run advertisements on your site, move to a self-hosted website. Costs much less than $2300 a month or even $500 a month. Here’s some info that might help:

True, but it could also be a lot more work for a business site that might end up costing them more in the long run.
One problem I see with these threads is that the OP never really explains the extent of what they want to do. It’s certainly better to go self-hosted if you only want to drop in a few links or small paid ads, but ever there you need some (more than basic) know-how to get it running efficiently and get the traffic up.

@notawoodpecker – that was my way of sliding into telling the poster just above me to post an actual reply. He’s been going around today with short, 5-word answers to a number of posts and it seems someone else marked him as a spammer.
In this case I thought the OP was pretty specific. Even the new business bundle upgrade (at $300/year) won’t let you run your own ads.

It’s an annoying patterned behavior I have likewise noted but I did not tag this though my patience is running very thin.
My rule of thumb: Either provide a full answer to the exact support question(s) being posed in any thread or don’t post.

@megsbeerbanter
There is only one advertising program called WordAds at WordPress.com and it’s for blogs on their own domains. Aside from a blog being accepted into WordAds http://www.wordads.co/ no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work or products created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by WordPress.com. Paid content and/or sponsored content is not allowed.
