advertising on my site
-
i chose wp because i thought it was a good website service to use, and i have just upgraded for a year, but i’ve seen that i am not allowed to have adverts. this is a big problem for me because the whole point of my site is to carry local adverts. So, my questions are:
is there a version of wp that will allow me to have ads?
will i be able to have a site with the www. prefix?
and will i be able to get a refund on the upgrade as this is not what i want?thanks in advance

WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

WordPress.com software strips out the www. for you and your visitors’ convenience.
www is an old protocol from back when everything was under separate server hardware. www (www.example.com) was the web server, mail (mail.example.com) was the mail server, ftp (ftp.example.com) was the FTP server, print (print.example.com) was the print server, etc.
These days, everything is run under the web server, making www. redundant and a waste of four characters.

Thanks so much guys, really appreciate it especially the clear explaination of whats and whys.
TT, I understand the reasoning behind dropping the www, but I’d still really like to have it in my site address, mainly for seo/ux. I found out about worpress.org and I think that maybe what I need. It’s crazy that they don’t make it clear!! I think with .org I can have www. and advertising too, basically, I don’t want a blog I want a proper, commercial website, and I thought that wp was the best for that, now I’m not so sure…But thanks again for all the help : )
