  Unsolicited advertising has appeared on my website, how can I remove these, or block any future advertising?

  If you are talking about a free wordpress.com website, wordpress.com puts those ads on free sites to cover the costs and keep them for free. If you don’t want ads on your site, you must upgrade to a paid plan.
