Howdy,
Our Advertising policy is the same—regardless of upgrade purchase. The difference is we won’t display advertising on your site with the upgrade.
With our WordAds program, we will display ads on your site and share with you the revenue from it.
Regarding Bloghatter, our Terms of Service must still be followed, namely this section:
the Content is not spam, is not machine- or randomly-generated, and does not contain unethical or unwanted commercial content designed to drive traffic to third party sites or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites, or to further unlawful acts (such as phishing) or mislead recipients as to the source of the material (such as spoofing);
To directly answer your questions:
- It appears that this may violate the Terms of Service for WordPress.com
- No.
- No, with the exception of WordAds, but in that case, we’ll find and place ads for you.
- No, the Code rules still apply to help ensure a secure and stable platform. You can place a link to a sign-up form hosted elsewhere (like how MailChimp suggests here)
.
You may want to look at WordPress.org, which does not have a similar Terms of Service. More information about the difference is at WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
Cheers!
