ADVERTISING – unwanted
-
swampythings.wordpress.com suddenly has advertising appearing below all posts. This advertising is not visible to admin. I don’t know how to get rid of these adverisements and need help please.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To support the service (and keep free features free), WordPress sometimes runs advertisements. They try hard to make the ads discreet and effective and only run them in limited places. If you would like to completely eliminate ads from appearing on your blog, wordpress offers the No-Ads Upgrade. See also #9 on the Terms of Service page.

The advertisements posted lead to http://ad.metanetwork.com/ and
http://ad.yieldmanager.com/. Are you sure that WordPress would allow this? One of the links was to a rather dodgy looking video. -
Looks like the ad networks aren’t set up very well, but that’s where the ads come from. If you want to wait till support re-opens you can contact staff from your dashboard and ask for confirmation.

We got in touch with the advertiser in question, and this shouldn’t be happening any more.

I just discovered this also on one of my sites for my 90 yo uncle’s life story. http://wp.me/pO4xR-3
A link went to a porn site that offended my sister who discovered it along with a lot of other “dodgie” adds. Most of the links seem to be generated from http://ad.yieldmanager.com/
She contacted me with great concern as a lot of family are now visiting the site.
It’s not so much the ads that concern me, I love what WordPress.com does and some advertising is okay (although I only just found out about it) but I would hope that the quality is vetted to avoid offensive advertisers -
If this happens in future, contact staff directly from your dashboard and report the offending ad and the exact post it appears on.
-
Sorry for the trouble. We’ll disable the offending ad network as soon as we track down exactly who’s responsible.

The same is still happening to me since yesterday (with any browser, firefox, ie, opera).
To be more precise, the banner with link to “ad.yiledmanager” appears only when showing my last post with comments. There are, though, two strange things happening:
1) If I am logged in and I access the page the add does not show up; if I am not logged in and I access the page the add shows up.
2) It seems that the add shows up if a certain condition on the number of words or characters, because if I remove the last word, actually if I use more than 167 characters, 199 with spaces.

I forgot another thing: if I disable Java nothing happens, the banner does not show up.
With Java enabled it shouws up.
Firefox addblock plus can stop the banner, but only in firefox, and in any case this is not a solution. -
If you can, please contact us directly via support@wordpress.com with a screenshot of the ads and as much detail as possible. We’ll use that to track down the offending network and take the necessary action.
Thanks!
