Advertizing on my web/blogsite

  • Unknown's avatar

I am told by a friend who visited my blogs that there were advertisements appearing at the end of my blog/s. I understood that there was to be no advertising on MY site. I checked my site out on their computer and sure enough ad’s did appear. I would like to know who authorized them and who is being paid for them. I know I certainly didn’t and am not being paid. How do I put a stop to these unauthorized intrusions into MY site. I am not amused.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress has been putting ads on blog here since 2006.

    From the Terms of Service:

    10. Advertisements. Automattic reserves the right to display advertisements on your blog unless you have purchased an Ad-free Upgrade or a VIP Services account.

From the support document on advertising:

Note: To support the service (and keep free features free), we sometimes run advertisements. We try hard to only run them in limited places. If you would like to completely eliminate ads from appearing on your blog, we offer the No-Ads Upgrade.

If you haven’t purchased the No Ads upgrade, WP runs ads on your blog sometimes. That’s in the terms of service to which you agreed when you signed up.

Ok thanks very much, I should take more notice of what I read instead of skimming through. You must admit they get very boring after a while. Thanks again

You are welcome and few actually read through a TOS. I know I also just skim, and sometimes I don’t even do that.

I have no problems with it.

They are discreete and WordPress offers a great service.

Infact, I’d be happy if they advertised my blogsite more!
