Adverts: how to stop them?
-
Hello all, I hope all’s well.
I recently renewed my domain and since my posts have had unwanted adverts. I’m a bit of a luddite/technophobe and noticed when I renewed my webpage it cost considerably less than my first year. I assume these unwanted – and to be honest, ugly and distracting – adverts are due to my unsuspectingly picking a cheaper deal.
I don’t mind payi ng a few pound extra for an uniterrupted service.
Thanks in advance,
Conor

We run ads on free sites to keep them free: https://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/
If you see an offensive ad, please do report it via the “Report This Ad” link below the ad, or by submitting the form at https://en.support.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/
To remove ads, simply purchase any paid plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Me too! (spillingthebeans). Adverts have suddenly appeared all over my latest posting like a nasty rash. They’re just awful. Ugly, messy and distracting. I understand why they need to be there (we can’t expect to get everything for free after all) but it would have been good to have had some warning that this was going to happen. Or have I missed this somehow? If I upgrade to a paid plan, presumably they’ll disappear?

Can you both ensure you’ve got a paid site plan? It’s separate from the domain. You can find it here:
https://wordpress.com/plansJust be sure you’ve got the correct site selected.
Free sites will have ads to help cover our costs.
