My ads stopped working

Hi there – your ads are loading on my end. What are you seeing exactly? Do they fail to load, or do the videos not play?

Hi Eurello – they used to work. Then my phone and broadband had a failure. They have been restored. But now all I get are the words “about these ads” with a blank space below. Should I disable and after restarting enable again?

Hi there – hmm, before doing that, can you please clear your browser cache in Chrome and see if that fixes it? Can you also please view your site in Firefox or Internet Explorer and let me know if you see the adverts properly in that alternate browser?
I see them fine on my end, so I’m wondering if this is a browser-related issue. :)

Eurello – thanks. Same absence with Firefox. I cleared Chrome cache and no change to invisibility!

Our users with TalkTalk (especially those in the UK) have been reporting connectivity issues lately. You can read more about this here:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/recent-problems-accessing-wordpresscom-sites?replies=3I don’t know that anyone’s reported ads failing to load specifically, but it seems likely to me that this is the problem. Are you able to test your site from another connection (not TalkTalk)? For example, if you are at home, can you try it at work? That would let us know if it’s your connection.
Meanwhile, I will report this to our WordAds team.

Are you running any ad blockers?
I gather than you’re browsing from the UK, but is your browser language set to English or something else?
Also, some of our advertisers do rate-limit how many times a single IP can view the same ad. Generally, this works just fine for more normal and repeat viewers, but if you repeatedly refresh or view your blog, you’ll eventually see a blank.
It is also entirely possible that Talk Talk is blocking the ads. Talk Talk blocking WordPress.com elements is sadly not a new thing.
If you’d please reply with answers to these questions and Elizabeth’s questions, we’ll get this figured out for you.

Eurello & Mac – many thanks. As I intend to move off TalkTalk onto BT Infinity in the next couple of months, I will drop this query. If after moving to BT it is still a problem, I will re-raise the issue.
