Adverts suddenly showing up after 18 months of going live
-
Users of the above site have complained that ads have appeared at the foot of pages: whilst I note that moderators, etc, routinely state that this is likely under a ‘free’ plan, we have not seen any since we started adding content in February 2016, and my take – and this may be a mistake on my part – is that any adverts would only appear discreetly on BLOG entry pages (-we post no blogs, or at least none that are public). As I say, I might be wrong on that – but our experience until yesterday would seem to bear that out. The adverts in question are prominent, and have no WordPress link (‘about these ads’ etc). Are these genuine ? If so, how have we avoided them so far ? Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Are you seeing the ads while logged into your account? You shouldn’t.
We show ads to logged out visitors on all sites on the free plan, but logged in admins on the site should never see them, and we only show them to a very small percentage of logged in visitors. This is how the ads typically appear:

The ads appear under the first blog post on the posts page, and at the bottom of each post and page on the site. What ads someone will see depends on their geographical location and browser history, among other factors.

These were on the site proper when i wasn’t signed in. Sounds like they’re genuine, although I’m still surprised that we’ve gone so long without seeing anything. Also, there appeared to be no ‘about these ads’ disclaimer. Hence my suspicions.
Are you in a position to access our URL and confirm that these (-should they appear) are definitely WordPress-generated? Thanks.

The ads on https://baschurchpc.org.uk/ are also served by us, yes. That site is also on the free plan.
Also, there appeared to be no ‘about these ads’ disclaimer.
There might have been a change on our end at some point to remove that link, but I’m not sure. Those ads are from us, though.

Thanks again; if i sign up on the Personal plan, does that plan take effect immediately? Will it have any effect on the existing domain mapping that we have in place ? And will the cost of that domain mapping now be covered by the £3pm/£36 per annum Personal plan cost ?

The plan becomes active on your site immediately, yes.
You should receive an automatic discount for the mapping upgrade already in your account, and it will then become linked to the plan so renewing the plan in future will also renew the domain mapping.
