How do we get rid of advertising on our wordpress blog?

    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there!

The ads on WordPress.com only appear on the free plan; if you upgrade to any of the paid ones, they’ll stop showing.

You can read more about our plans and what they include here:

    https://wordpress.com/pricing/.

Or, if you’re interested in the lowest plan that will get rid of ads, you can go straight to the checkout using this link:

With an annual plan, you will also get a free custom domain for the first year :)

Followed the steps to get a plan. I’m confused. Why is it asking me to name my blog, it already has a name? I’m not looking to start a new blog. I want to continue with the one we have set-up.

  • Hi there,

It looks like you’ve purchased the plan and connected your domain to your other blog (thinkturtleca.wordpress.com). No worries, though. I can move those upgrades to your thinkturtleconservationinitiative.wordpress.com blog.

Just give me the green light, and I’ll make that change.

    Hello fstst.

Yes, we give you the green light to change that and move those upgrades to our thinkturtleconservationinitiative.wordpress.com blog.

We don’t want any changes to our thinkturtleconservationinitiative.wordpress.com blog except to eliminate the advertising. This WordPress blog is an integral part of our turtle conservatio education initiatives and species recovery efforts.

Thank you so much for your time and assistance in this matter.

  • Hello again,

Yes, we give you the green light to change that and move those upgrades to our thinkturtleconservationinitiative.wordpress.com blog.

Thank you for the confirmation! I have moved the subscriptions to the correct blog. Please note, however, that because this was a manual move, the auto-renewal was disconnected. You’ll want to add back your payment data if you’d like the plan to renew automatically.

I also noticed you’ve added the custom domain registered on GoDaddy, but you still haven’t pointed it out to your WordPress.com site. Here’s how you can do that:

    WP
    Domains » Connect a Domain
    5 min read
If you already own a domain name with another provider, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. Once you complete the steps below, instead of your site address being something like yourgroovysite.wordpress.com, your site’s address will be something like yourgroovydomain.com. Follow the steps in this guide to keep your domain registered with your current provider and use it to show

I hope that helps, let us know if you have more questions. :)

Can we unhook the GoDaddy domain? I found all that confusing. We don’t want to change anything about our wordpress blog. Just want the advertising to stop.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, you can remove it by viewing the settings for the domain and deleting it from there.

I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any questions or need help with anything else.

Sorry thought this was done. I have paid and updated payment information for mthly payments. Have since received a message saying …

    Your action is needed.
Follow these instructions to complete your domain setup.

    WordPress.com Personal
    thinkturtleca.wordpress.com Manage subscription

    Domain Connection
    thinkturtle.ca Manage subscription

As mentioned we upgraded/purchased plan to get rid of advertising. We want no other changes. Do I just ingnore the message Your action is needed.
Follow these instructions to complete your domain setup? Thank you for your help.

  • Hey there,

That’s great – the personal plan should remove those ads automatically.

The message you were seeing related to connecting the domain: thinkturtle.ca – do you wish to connect this to the site?

If yes, the domain name servers would need to change to:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

A domain connection be set up as per these steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

I see the connection has been removed – so that message would also be removed too.

    I hope this helps.
