advice on moving name servers in relation to self hosting and domain mapping

  Hi. So I have a site that is on wordpress.com and is domain mapped to a URL. The name servers are pointed to wordpress.

  I am switching to wordpress.org and trying to figure out the sequence of things. I maybe should be writing over there but sometimes there is a lack of response and this probably fall somewhere in the middle.

  Do I leave domain mapping on and move the name servers to my hosting company?

  Move the domain name to your independently hosted site.

  Does that mean change the name servers away from WordPress.com to the host’s NS? I know I have to do that I’m trying to determine the order of events. The domain name already exists and is registered with the independent host. Thank you.
