Advice on WP theme editing for beginners
-
Hi,
I have used wordpress.com for quite a while.
Now I have ventured into using wordpress.org, so I am hosting the blog myself. My host has a quickinstall option, so I have been able to automatically upload the software, and so in that sense I can just get posting.
But there are only two .org themes that come supplied with .org to start with. I know I can download further themes, but I’d like to have a go at editing the existing themes for myself. (ie. WordPress default 1.6).
I have a grasp of HTML and CSS, but really need a bit more grounding in wordpress coding before I start hacking up code and (trying to) change things.
For now I’d just like to try out some simple changes – add an image to the header, change background color schemes and bits like this.
So I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good online tutorial or site which takes you through the basic codes, explains things, and gives a good grounding for beginners to get started on editing wordpress themes.
Thanks
