Advice to a noob, please!

Hi. I’m new here, and new to all this. Can anyone help me? I have added buttons and widgets to my blog, but when I go to the page I cant see them. Can anyone else see them or has it not worked?
Also, how do I search for blogs to follow, and get people to follow me. Especially as I am very interested in followers from the UK.

SEO is great on WordPress.com without your having to do anything special other than post. The longer your blog exists, the more you post, and the more people who visit it, the higher it should climb in Google’s rankings.
