Advise on the best way to use wordpress for what im creating

    I’m new to WordPress, I’ve been going through all the options available on the personal plan, to best create a website for what I’m trying to create. I don’t have any experience in web design nor have I ever done any social blogging etc etc. But I’m sure I’ll have it all under control once I really get the ball rolling. Right now I’m a little confused with the lay out of Blog, pages, categories etc haha. We’re creating it for Motorsport Media, nothing huge, for local use here in NZ, we have a professional photographer & videographer, we attend a variety of motorsports, as well as special events once a year. So what I’m wanting to know is, do I create different pages or categories for the different variety of motorsports. So lets say we’re covering rally one weekend, when I upload a blog/post that’s going to show up on my main page, I want it to show in its corresponding Category, which should answer my question, but in my head, the word ‘Category’: Rally shouldn’t show up, am I correct? or is the word ‘category’ only visible to me when I’m signed in on my end & wont show up to the general public. That’s my only issue at the moment. Can I create it as a page and link it some how in the blog so it will show up both areas, or do i have to add it to the page manually?

    I very well could be making this completely difficult for myself, So any info, tips, tricks, direction and or advise would be really awesome,

    I think you are on the right track. Your Category words will show up so think about the groupings you want for the posts. All blog posts will appear on your main posts/blog page, but you can also assign categories of the motorsports you cover and create menu items/categories for each of those. Clicking on the category in the menu will take you to a compilation of all of your posts for that category. So the menu item might read Rally. On many of the themes, the heading Category: Rally will appear on the page itself.
