AdWords – can you turn it off again?
-
I have had an invitation to use the AdWords service. I am considering opting in, but I am wondering if I decide to opt out later is this possible if I decide that the adverts are not suitable? Also, does anyone know how much you get?
I have previously seen comments that advertising is not worth while unless you have 20,000+ hits per month. My blog only gets 6,000-8,000 a month and if this would only amount to pence it wouldn’t be worth risking upsetting my readers.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Adword is not allowed on wordpress.com blogs. You must be talking about Wp.org. Go to http://wordpress.org/support/ and post there you question. In fact you are not hosted here.
If you want to know more about it How Wp.org is different from Wp.com see this http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ -
@iphonist1: tandava108 probably means WordAds, which is a WordPress.com product.
http://en.wordpress.com/apply-for-wordads/@tandava108: I think staff would be in a better position to answer your questions.
-
@tandava108, perhaps you should inquire directly with Staff, since there has been little or no discussion of the new WordAds ad revenue sharing program here in the forums.

Hi airodyssey!
Why your username not linked to your blog. I was always wondering. Are you not hosted here? -
-
@iphonist1 – last I checked airodyssey was hosted here – he just chooses for what ever the reason not to have his name linked – not a requirement to be hosted to help here – to get help you do need to be hosted here.
One side note – I have had several people from the forum leave very rude comments on my site for whatever reason so not linking does have an upside

Hi Auxclass
Can we do it with our gravatar too. I mean not to link your blog on gravatar or profile?
How can we check someone hosted here or not? -
Usually I just click on the persons name and look at the linked site – or hover over the name and look at the URL displayed – yours shows your name then .wordpress.com so maybe for you (if you deleted the site the same link would show but if I clicked on it I would see a deleted note) – I have domain mapping so not so obvious with my name – but it you are logged in and you visit my site you would see the gray Nav bar at the top of the page –
if it’s a mapped domain sometimes I will use http://ismyblogworking.com/ – it is not 100% at identifying where a site is hosted but does have info on robots.txt file so we can see if search engines are allowed in
I also might do a Who Is http://who.is/ and see where the name servers are pointed to.
Sometimes a site is really messed up and the top gray Nav bar will not be displayed.
There should also be a “Blog at WordPress.com” in the footer for sites hosted here (it’s a Terms of Service violation to remove it) –
“Powered by WordPress” is not always an indicator of a WordPress.ORG install as some of the Themes still have that left in the footer area when they ported (modified to run here) the Theme to WordPress.COM.

@tandava108-you’re welcome and I’m sure others would find the answer you receive from Support to be interesting, if you wouldn’t mind posting back here.
