affiliate ads on your blog?

Hi there,
I’ve been reading about ads on your blog, are you allowed to put affiliate ads on your site it has nothing to do with get rich quick ads just general advertising ??

@bubel, that seems to contradict the FAQ where it excludes “examples like people writing original book or movie reviews and linking them to Amazon” from the realm of the banned. See:

An FAQ entry specifically on affiliate programs might help.

Yes, Amazon, Etsy and the like are okay (but “general advertising” sounds a bit different to me). We like to look at this on a case-by-case basis; but if a blog is built with all posts randomized around a different product with accompanying links to Amazon stores, this is where it goes wrong (and I see a lot of blogs that do this, often hiding behind that particular page that you noted – which, of course, does not work). Using these types of links in a responsible and respectable manner is perfectly okay.An FAQ article may be a good idea, so long as it allows us to judge accordingly in gray areas. I will see what I can do.
