affiliate links

Am I allowed to have affiliate links in my posts? The purpose would be to promote hiking gear from REI and Backcountry on my hiking blog. The last time I did this my blog got disciplined. However, I just read that you allow affiliate links. So I am wondering if policies have changed? ( https://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/) I prefer if an admin answers my question because sometimes ordinary bloggers do not understand the rules and I want to be well informed. Thank U.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have answered question here for 9 years. I predate the support doc and all but one support Staff member even being on Staff.
Posting of some affiliate links is possible, provided the blog is an actual blog and not just a storefront designed to drive traffic to third party sites in post after post after post . Please read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/ closely.
WordPress.com allows bloggers to insert text affiliate links within post and page content to most third-party affiliate programs, provided they are not the primary content of the site in question.
Image affiliate links in posts and pages and any banners, affiliate links in sidebar or footer widget areas, are still considered to be advertising and are not allowed on WordPress.com blogs.

These are our support options http://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/ In addition we can email
help@wordpress.com
or
support@wordpress.comIf you believe you can make a significant amount of income from becoming an affiliate marketer then I suggest you lower expectations and I strongly encourage you to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.ORG software install.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Thank U Time Thief! I think U were the original one that answered my question four years ago when my blog wasn’t showing up in the reader’s feed. Three or four years ago I was temporarily suspended on this blog from showing up in the reader’s feed because of the backcountry affiliate link. I did read the first wordpress link before I posted this question. I’m going to read the other docs now. I am only double checking to make sure that my blog remains in good standing.
I said I wanted an admin to answer this question because my last question that I asked 8 months ago on a different topic was answered by a fellow blogger who wanted to advertise his blog link in his answer to me and did not answer my question. That is why I phrased my question above the way that I did. Then that particular blogger tried to start an argument with me on wordpress because I kept on asking for help. He wasn’t answering my question. The purpose of his argument was to have another opportunity to post his blog link after his reply. It was annoying.
