affiliate links not working

  • Unknown's avatar

I can’t figure out how to get my affiliate links to work on my site. It shows the link but not the picture of the ad.
I’m pretty frustrated right now because I paid around $300.00 for a .com blog so I could make money using affiliate links, banner ads and marketing affiliate networks.
Hopefully I’m simply doing something wrong, which is highly possible since I’m technologically challenged. I could really use some assistance with this and I can’t find the help I need in the forums.
Any guidance you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

all of those are against the terms of service and will get your blog suspended

    Thanks for the answerauxclass.
Didn’t think to look in depth @ their policies bc everyone raves about how user-friendly wp is & it’s supposed to be easy to make $.
Do you have any suggestions for a blog hosting site where I can make $?

It is user-friendly. It is not easy to make money on a WP.com blog.

By definition everyone here has chosen WP.com as their host, so you won’t get the best suggestions for other hosts.

If you have a custom domain name that is mapped to your blog – you can apply for WordAds – it is a revenue sharing program where you split the ad income – but it takes a lot of traffic to make any money and if many of your visitors use an ad blocker on their browser you make less –

making money is tough on the internet – no matter how you do it, you will need a lot of traffic.

you can do limited plain text affiliate links here – but they need to be secondary to the content

auxclass, thanks for the info & for being polite in your reply. My intention for my blog is to help others by recommending nontoxic products I like and use myself & hopefully make some extra $.
I applied for WordAds but don’t recall getting anything back. Do you know if bloggers are able to control what type of companies ads appear on their page if approved? I fear that those ads may not be the type I want to appear on my blog. For example, I wouldn’t want ads for processed foods or any mainstream cosmetics or personal care products because of the toxic ingredients they contain.
    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi there,

The answer is no and can be found on the WordAds site. We don’t provide support for WordAds here. WordAds Staff provide support on their site. Please see:

The WordAds have a minimum traffic amount and also some requirements for the type of traffic – but they don’t publish hard numbers –

your best bet would be to contact them with the link above – they will probably tell you that your app if it was rejected for traffic will be evaluated at some time in the future – or if you are not in the backlog I guess you could reapply in a few months – remember it takes quite a bit of traffic to make money, no matter what system you use
